Summer Snowflakes

well the fire season is in full swing so as I braved the heat today to take pictures in the late afternoon light which was more orange than usual and was met by a flurry of white flakes, which however were accompanied by the smell of woodsmoke rather than a crisp breeze, ah well.

Happy 4th of July!

aye, though not as bad as the last time we had fires, heh. The blacktop was all white that time, and there were actuall drifts (if very shallow) of it that accumulated in corners and such. Luckilly the winds haven't been strong like they often are around here - then it's miserable because it's constantly driving the flakes into your eyes, ug!

Well yeah, it's only July now. Wait for October. *That's* the *real* fire season. And when it starts earlier than that, it's a very bad sign. That's why any native Californian or fireman worth his salt could have known fire season was going to be horrible last year. Record breaking dry year couple years after record breaking wet year? Not good.

I thought I'd seen the orange light recently, but then I didn't hear anything about fires on the news... I thought that was odd. Maybe there were only fires closer to you. And to Sharon.
